Volunteer Check-In

The following information is for volunteers who have a confirmed volunteer shift (received a confirmation e-mail after using our online sign up) on the day of the International Festival.

Please visit our parking website for more information regarding parking. We are expecting large crowds, so please plan to arrive early to find parking.

All volunteers need to check-in 10 minutes prior to the start of their shift at the Volunteer Check-in. This check-in will be located inside of the SAC at UNC Charlotte upstairs in Salon C (3rd floor).  Volunteers who check-in late may not be guaranteed their volunteer shift and could be assigned to other duties. Volunteers will be required to sign a volunteer waiver upon arrival if they did not do so when signing up online and will be given further instructions on where to go for their shift.

All confirmed volunteers will receive a free international festival t-shirt as inventory permits (one shirt per volunteer). All volunteers are required to change into this t-shirt after checking in so that they can be easily identified as a volunteer by festival staff and attendees. While we ask for t-shirt size upon sign up, we unfortunately cannot guarantee your size will be available upon check-in. Please ensure you allow enough time to check-in, change into your t-shirt and then go to your station for your volunteer shift.

Depending on your assigned volunteer shift, you may be required to work outside and to stand for long periods of time. Please dress accordingly (e.g. comfortable shoes and pants). The weather will be unpredictable, so please prepare accordingly (e.g. rain jacket, warm coat, sun screen, sunglasses, etc.). It is recommended that you bring a fillable water bottle (fill stations located inside the SAC) and cash so that you can try out the great food being sold by the cultural groups before or after your volunteer shift!

While we allow volunteers to sign up for specific volunteer shifts, it is possible that upon check-in you are assigned a different volunteer duty. While we do our best to accommodate volunteer requests, due to the large scale of these event we must prioritize volunteer needs the day of. All confirmed volunteer shifts are subject to change.
